Tiffin Restaurant

2536 W. Devon Ave.
773.338.2143
Indian

Tiffin is a pretty good, upscale Indian restaurant on Devon. When you first get there, they bring out this flatbread that is so crispy and amazing and goes great with the chutney. For an appetizer, we tried the samosas--they were wonderful! The best I have ever had! For an entree, I ordered an eggplant curry which was very mild in flavor--I actually preferred the taste of another curry I tasted that was a little bit spicier. I didn't like that the curry didn't come with basmati rice and that you had to order that in addition. We went on a Friday night and although all the waitstaff was attentive with our water, our food took FOREVER! It was a nice restaurant but a lot pricier than I was expecting.

Bruna's Ristorante

2424 S. Oakley
"Heart of Chicago"
Italian
773.254.5550

This place has classic, true Italian food. It is good food in an atmosphere that makes you think you are in Italy. It is not fancy, it is not trendy...it is just an old-school Italian place that serves good food. I tried the gnocchi with meat sauce and the eggplant parmesan. They were both excellent! (And I try those dishes almost everywhere!) It is in a neighborhood that I am not too familiar with (the heart of Chicago), but I would definitely go back because it just feels like you are in another city. The place is small so I would suggest reservations and people definitely go there to have fun and talk! (It is kind of a loud atmosphere.)
